Steve,
Welcome to the Fiberglass Flyrodders! I'm glad you joined in. I've got a couple rods I could bring by the Thursday night fly tying session that you could try. Betty has a Diamondglass 7 foot, 3 weight she made up for her husband that you might try too. Meanwhile, check out the Glass Wiki for an idea of the rods (and blanks) that are currently on the market. Tom |

Ask that question to 10 different people and you get 10 different. I've had a bunch of glass rods and they are all special. But I got a Steffen blank that
was built up for me and it is the nicest glass rod I have. It is so light and casted so ez. I'm going to get another one.

kwmcneill,
Welcome to the Fiberglass Flyrodders! If you want to build a glass rod, this is a great place to be. Great Bay had rod blanks on their old website for $125-135. They just redesigned their site (and added a five foot rod line, the Brumly). Perhaps the blanks aren't on their e-commerce listing yet. I would give them a call and see what they can do for you. What blank did you decide to buy? I'll throw in a recommendation for the Lamiglas 7' 3wt blanks. Both the 2 & 3 piece models are nice casting
blanks and the "honey" color goes well with a lot of thread colors. Oh and they don't cost an arm and a leg.

Kettle Creek offers a 7'6" 3wt in two piece. Pretty good blank for the money too.
It's time to turn over a new fly.

I chatted with Dave Gibson at Great Bay Rods today. They do still sell blanks. They
are redesigning their website and the page about blanks isn't up yet.
They have the 5 foot Brumby Creek blanks for $90, the 6'6" Saxon Creek blanks for $100, and the 7'0" Northeast blanks for $110. The Brumby Creek blanks are two piece and the Saxon Creek and Northeast are four piece. Tom |

For low cost and high quality I would say the two piece Lami, for superior materials and design I would say Steffen and his S glass blanks. For something
different and striking I would say McFarland and his new yellow unsanded E-glass blanks, I especially liked his recent posting of his two piece series.
