I think if you searched Phillipson on the photo page, most of your dream will come true, especially if you check fffgt postings

Mike,
I've been looking for Phillipson catalogs for years. I've got one Johnson Profile pamphlet that cost me. I can find catalogs from Silaflex, Fenwick, Lamiglas, Orvis, and others, but not Phillipson. I think they are handed from owner to owner in secret ceremonies with vows of silence and mystery. If anyone has catalogs PLEASE! I want some photocopies or scans! Tom |

Yes, Bulldog, I do have some; but, I don't have the foggiest notion of how to translate them into digitalese. I'll tell you who may be able to, though:
Rick's Rods aquired a bunch of them when they bought all the stuff from Bob's Tackle Shop, which was the old DeBell operation. They've got a
loose-leaf binder full of 'em. Maybe Maybe Rick and Marilyn could be persuaded to scan, if that's the correct term, them into our little world as a
reference source. A little dough might have to change hands, though. Just a thought.

I have searched WIKI, Rod pictures, and Google and don't find anything on the Phillipson Challenger that I just bought on Ebay. Does anyone have some info
on it? When I get it I will post photos on here.

So far here's what I've been able to collect in the way of Phillipson rod names (I'm not listing the various sizes, weights, etc.):

Mity Lite, not "Mighty Midge." Aristo, Royal Wand, Regal Lancer. Bill was inclined towards a bit of grandiosity now and then. I mean, "Regal
Lancer" fer cryin' out loud. "What's that yer fishin' there, Laramie?" "A Phillipson Regal Lan........uh, a Phillipson." I
just don't think I could bring myself to admit that I'm using a rod called a Regal Lancer.

Strictly speaking, we probably ought to delete the Johnson Profiles as they were not produced under Phillipson ownership. They were Phillipsons that
weren't Phillipsons. HUH?

Good additions to our list, I've added those to the list. Thanks Laramie Spinner! Anybody else know any other model names we can add?

Additionally you might want to list the companies that they produced rods for that were not labelled as Phillipsons. This would probably be beneficial in helping someone get a Phillipson who doesn't necessairly care if it says Phillipson. |

Yeah, "Regal Lancer" sounds like a name Herter's would use.
Coincidentally, Phillipson made some rod models for Herter's for a few years, there. You can also get into collecting Phillipson trade rods, if you want to...the company also made them for L.L. Bean, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Orvis. I have an early Phillipson with an LL Bean decal. Unfortunately, it looks to me as if it has a fracture. The early tobacco glass can be real fragile. I wonder if there's a way to strip rods like those and do a better impregnation job on the glass cloth mandrel, with something like epoxy... |

There was also a Swamp Fox Deluxe.
And don't forget all of the various Eponites.... like the X76, etc. |
