Hi Guys,
I picked this up off ebay a couple of weeks ago and have been enjoying it quite a bit lately. Im not familiar with this model, it doesn't fall withing
Johnsons Book nor the two post fire Phillipson Catalogues I have. Based on Johnsons book its post 1956 and pre fire. The wrap style reminds me of quite a few
none premium earlier Phillipsons, likewise the Phillipson reel seat is cleary Phillipson but its not a "no-rock" seat. The ferrules are typical
Phillipson NS with the female having a color match to the wrap thread color. Grip is a full wells but not a Phillipson "Hammer style". This rod has
snake guides like the lower priced none premium rods as well. What is also different is the blank taper, Phillipson lists it as an HDH, however unlike the same
tapers on my X series Eponites this one is lighter, thinner and handles a DT5F or S with complete and easy loading. A single haul or roll cast is easily made
at 65 feet. Something not true with the X series Eponites labeled HDH until you get into a DT6wt.
So what the heck is it, some sort of Light Line Eponite of the late 50s? anybody have an information on this model, I really like it.
