I just acquired a Wojnicki glass rod. I spent about 30 minutes casting it on the lawn this morning. It's Mario's 7'7" 5 wt. and it's a very smooth casting rod with a lot of power, really as nice a rod as I've ever had the pleasure to cast. On his website Mario decribes the action as Medium-Fast. My experience is limited to just a handful of contemporary glass rods but it seemed to me it was on the slow side of medium. I checked Steffen's website and he describes his glass rods as Slow-Medium and to me they seem more on the fast side of medium, certainly faster than the "Medium-Fast" Wojnicki. I wonder if this difference is due to the fact that Mario's makes Split Cane rods and compared to cane his glass is Medium-Fast and that Steffen started with graphite and compared to graphite his glass is Slow-Medium.I wonder if this is generally true among rod makers, that is those whose primary interest is boo consider glass fast and those whose primary interest is graphite feel that glass is slow?
