It's to tone down a very gaudy parametric custom I'm rebuilding with white/gold tape/brown/royal blue wraps.

Any suggestions for a thread match for the bronze/brown PD series wraps?

Gudebrod chestnut with NCP white tipping looks like a pretty good match to me.

If you want to do something different from the factory parametrics, then you might consider gold and black:

Nice look - I've opted for straight chestnut only for starters.

And I thought I was the only one rewrapping a parametric. I tried chestnut on a couple of wraps and I don't think I like it too much.I'm going to
try dark brown with white trim. Bassackwards-Nice job with the gold wraps. If I was going to strip the rod right down I would seriously think of doing something
like that.

Curtis, that is sharp
the rods are never obsolete - the marketing is.

I know what you mean. I'm trying to just rewrap the brown and leave as many of the old trim wraps as possible. I need to change some of the guides
or I wouldn't have changed anything.

I basically follow this tutorial for trim wraps: http://www.rodbuildingfor...ndex.php?showtopic=11988 . The one change is that I start by doing
the trim. Then, I do the guide wrap over the tag end from the trim. This keeps the trim wrap from unraveling when you cut the thread and pack it. It also makes
a very smooth transition.

I've done trim wraps like that before but I still don't like doing them. Thanks for the tip on that rodbuilding website. I've never seen it
before.-Stonefly.

Thanks for that. I did OK last time, and I did it trims first too. My 4th project and first go at silk trims, the first was metallic thread trim accents. Not
sure which was more persnickity. My basic wrapping skills are still coming along and I just found it hugely time consuming tipping 10x2-foot guides. This time
I'm experimenting with seymo stand off chrome wire single foot snakes - they make sense to me in casting terms for a deeply flexing rod, but look a bit
weird and I don't want to invest too much time in the wrap stage in case they don't work out in use. And I lean steeply towards low key finishes. Pics
in due course
