I received a n ff909 fenwick yesterday and while I wouldn't call it mint, it's still in very good condition. The one problem is that Fenwick
cork sucks. I fixed that up and now the grip is better than new.It sure takes a large reel to balance it.I also received an Eagle Claw 7 1/2 ft 4 pc. 7wt.
Trailmaster pack rod.What a neat rod. I thought it would have a really slow soft action. Instead it's got a stiff butt and a nice quick tip.It feels like
another good rod for pulling large bass out of lily pads and weeds.They are two decent rods, but I think I'm going to have to back off buying rods for
awhile to let my wallet recover.-Stonefly

How's the FF909 line up? My (previous generation) FF106 #10 feels like it might go a #9 better, either that or a less aggressive WF10 taper.
But either way it doesn't jangle half as much as med-fast carbon casting a large fly on a wire trace. |

Taniwha2- I'm still drooling over how nice the rod looks, so I haven't had it out to cast yet.I think I'm going to have to put one of those metal
fittings for a screw-in fighting butt just so the rod will balance better.I built one from a FL108-9F blank back in the 1980's. That rod was pretty good
with a 9wf.Of course I sold it.This rod could be a little stiffer.I guess I'll have to take it out and see if I can hook a steelhead on it.-Stonefly

The fenwick cast a wf9f really well. Itcast a fast sinking sink tip not very well.There much hingeing with those lines. I think I'll try both a full
sinking 9 wt. itermediate and a DT8FS and see what happens.I really like the rod though. It's perfect for steelhead.-Stonefly
