Sport Posts: 8 (07/08/08 09:51:25) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I am fairlynew to fly fishing and I am looking to fly fish for Great Lakes Steelhead and Bass and need a reel suggestion. We do not have many tackle shops in our area that carry fly reels, and brands are extremely limited. I have been looking at either an Okuma Integrity or Okuma SLV in 7/8wgt. I have an older Pflueger Medalist that is in great shape, but have no data on whether it is desgned for handling fish as I indicated above, or if it is designed for 7/8 wgt. lines at all. Any suggestions would be appreicated Thank you for the help.

Posts: 568 (07/28/08 04:44:35) Administrator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Your 1494 is a fine reel and is a great match for 4, 5 and 6 weight lines and for trout or smallmouth fishing. Perhaps a bit small for 7a nd 8 weights. The Okuma Integrity (I have an 8/9 and a 5/6) is a dynamite reel for short $$. In the 7/8 and 8/9 sizes it is absolutely capable of handling a steelhead. The more expensive Okuma reels are even nicer and the Helios is as good as they get for the money. Joe C. Sport Posts: 11 (07/28/08 16:12:19) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have a Shakespeare FY-A120 Rod that came with it, but I know now that the rod is not matched to the reel weight wise. From what Caddis told me, it is an 8 weight rod. Up until I found out the specs on the rod, I was casting a 6 weight line with ease and getting nice turns. I recently picked up a 7/8 Okuma SLV and will use it on the Shakespeare. Now I have an excuse for finding a good glass 5 weight rod Thank you all for the help.
