Well, I'll try. If you want an "all purpose rod" it is hard to beat an 8ish foot, 5 weight. You can throw standard dries, nymphs, wets, midges,
little bucktails, and maybe some small poppers and other flies. You can muscle a bigger if necessary or use a light tip line and long leader for delicacy.
With an 8 foot, 5 weight you can probably have a good day on the water no matter what happens.

On the other hand, a rod designed for streamers is longer and throws a heavier line. When you want to throw bigger stuff such as streamers, big nymphs, sofa
pillows, and such, the larger setup gets it done. But you lose some delicacy as a result. The streamer special will be a rod for bigger flies and, hopefully,
bigger fish. On the other side, a 6'9" Yamame rod is shorter for a lighter line. There is a big gain in delicacy, but you lose the ability to throw
a #6 cork popper. The streamer rod and yamame rod can't "do it all", so they are...

I've cast almost all the prototypes and would say the 8' 5 wt. would be my choice for a single blank. It's exceptionally smooth and probably the
most versatile of the models. Tom considers the 8 1/2' 7 wt. "Unity with the Universe" model to be one of the sweetest rods ever, and the
8'3" 6 wt. streamer model is a great streamer rod, but both are quite specialized, so I'd go for the 8' 5 wt.

suppliers, but only the company that will supply the pre-preg fiberglass cloth for the rod production. Tom is working out the details with the new pre-preg
supplier. Hopefully no new problems crop up. This project has had way more problems than Tom Morgan deserves.

What they provided to me with the Stalker kits I got back then was Gudebrod #337 Maroon, size 00. When I finished the rods with that thread, it was an exact
match to a factory original Stalker I had available for comparison. I still have a little on a little styrofoam spool that they sent me, and it's
definitely maroon, not scarlett or garnet, which were the other two red shades. I'd be surprised if they used another color thread on the glass rods than
they already had on large spools for tipping their bamboo rods. I don't know what was used on the Retro series rods from a few years ago, as 00 maroon
nylon had been discontinued by then and, as I understand it, Glenn Brackett had switched to silk for the bamboo rods. It could very well be that the Retros
were wrapped with whatever shade of red nylon they were using to tip the graphite rods. Now, of course, all 00 nylon has been discontinued and the color chart
for size A is much smaller, too, with maroon size A thread...

Of those 5, 3 are 7 1/2' and two are 8'. One of each length is for the Japanese market and one of each length is for the U.S. market. The Japanese
versions are generally softer and slower than the U.S. versions of the same length. All are very good to outstanding, and I preferred the U.S. versions over
the Japanese ones. All have fine enough tips to cast nice loops in close and enough butt to cast easily out to medium (40-45') distances, though they are
really designed to fish at closer ranges (around 30'). They are nicely balanced between butt and tip, and cast a nice flat line with minimal tip bounce. I
think they will please almost anybody who wants a fine moderate action fishing tool for small flies. I think the reason for the big price difference between
